I have made it through a couple of rooms in my after Christmas cleaning frenzy.
It feels good. I have yet to tackle the kitchen or the bedrooms but they are next on my list and heck, I have all winter long right? (Look at that crooked curtain rod! Patrick is always playing with those...eeek.)

I'm working on reclaiming a peaceful space too, in the aftermath of renos in 3 rooms leading up to Christmas Eve, then company over the holidays. ACK! Our first step was taking ALL the toys out of the living room, and only allowing back one small basket for each child. They are 1.5 & 3 and man they create chaos. I've managed to get my 3 yr old daughter to donate a box of dolls/toys, and I have 4 other diaper boxes of stuff to let go of by the end of the month. Brava to the New Year Cleanse!
ReplyDeleteI would have never noticed the curtains unless you mentioned it! :-)
ReplyDeleteWould love to see pre-frenzy pictures? Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletejust noticed your reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn...one of my all time favorites! Your house is so clean!! :)
ReplyDeletelove love love how clean and EMPTY your space looks. Working hard to achieve that here, as well! It's so much easier to keep a home picked up when there's less sitting around. =)
ReplyDeleteLove your simple yet classy style :)
ReplyDeleteIs your house almost always that clean? Is it because you are always decluttering? I just seem to have stuff everywhere with just three kids and use that as an excuse but you have five and your house looks great. I am so jealous!
ReplyDeleteLovely...so clean and fresh! This is a change of subject but I was wondering if you would do a post on your recent search for colleges....and maybe the ones you liked? I have a Jr that is starting the process and it would not only help me but a lot of other Mamas out there. As I am located in the deep South, we don't hear about some of the smaller, good but not famous colleges, in the North. If you would share your knowlege on this topic...it would be so helpful! I remember one post you did that talked about some colleges you loved, but they wern't named. Also, any tips on the application process etc, would be most appreciated! You , of all people, probably have it down to a science now!
ReplyDeleteSarah, I have black leather furniture which is so durable with six ... Almost seven, but darkens my home more than I'd like. I want to trade out for lighter colored fabric furniture. Do you have to fight to keep yours clean?
ReplyDeleteSure, you can take all winter....but we know you won't ! ;)
ReplyDeleteCrooked curtains = a lived in house!
ReplyDeleteSarah, Do you know the brand/color of the paint in your dining room? I'm compiling a list of possible colors to paint and I like this color!
ReplyDeleteYour home looks lovely! I am just getting back from Walt Disney World and playing catch up! My to do list is quite long so hopefully this weekend the Christmas decorations will come down :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful new year!
Blessings,
Jill
It looks lovely and peaceful. Makes me want to come sit down in your livingroom with a cup of tea and relax.
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy husband bought me a Dyson, which is making me WANT to clean for the first time ever...I am sure it will wear off eventually...ha!
Between jobs and have been away on holiday so still struggling with the last of the Christmas stuff being packed away. Your nice clean and tidy house has motivated me to "get to" and finish.
ReplyDeleteI have not done a thing to un-decorate from Christmas! And I'm not even stressed about it (yet). :)
ReplyDeleteIt always feels good to have a clean slate at the beginning of the new year.
ReplyDeleteI take down one ornament a day.
ReplyDeleteat this rate, I will be done mid October.
Where did you put all of the kid's stuff?? And end up with clear end tables??!! Oh how I love a flat surface!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I want a clean house like that!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I love a clean house in Januray!!
